Eat Dessert First

When life hands you flour and egg... BAKE! I found my infatuation with cupcakes about two years ago when I came across "Hello Cupcake" by Karen Tack & Alan Richardson. I was so intrigued by the possibilities of creativity on these tiny cakes. How is it possible that you can take flour and egg along with other basic ingredients and make a canvas for something amazing?

I've always loved to paint, draw and craft ceramics. When I started seeing what others had done with a cupcake, my mind started churning. The first time I went all the way through the book, I turned to my sister and begged her to go to the grocery store with me. I was craving candy and wanting to fulfill this passion I had seemed to develop in a couple hours. The first cupcakes I tackled were owls. I found this idea on pg. 171, "Hello Cupcake."

Then, it was on! I started baking cupcakes and decorating...just because! I shared my hobbies with a few friends and my family, which led to somehow finding my first customer! It was a baby shower, and I had the perfect cupcake. Another idea from "Hello Cupcake"...babies with bonnets, pacifiers and teddy bears. After this order, I found more customers and was able to use my creativity for all sorts of orders, ranging from more baby showers to wedding showers, a breast cancer awareness event, birthday parties, a bachelor party, a high school reunion, holidays and finally, this summer, my first WEDDING!
